Meet JaJa Margaret from Suubi

"I came to Jinja in 1987 because of the war. My husband already used to work in Jinja at Steel Co., he used to have three wives so we had a big family then, and we used to struggle to feed the big family because his income wasn’t enough to feed all of us. Three of my children dropped out of school due to lack of money but now while in Suubi I’m struggling to pay fees for the young ones, even the orphans that I do take care of. Before I joined Suubi I used to live in absolute poverty. I found Suubi to me was a wise decision, because in Suubi there is no difference between the white man and me, the African person, they treat us all as equals. Before Suubi the landlord used to knock at our door at 5 in the morning, but when I joined Suubi he became relaxed because he knew we could pay in time. I’m lucky I managed to buy the house I’m living in and at least that gives me peace of mind. I’m so grateful to Suubi because of all they have done for us and I pray that they continue to grow and continue to buy our necklaces."
