Free the Nations started a little over a year ago with a couple dreamers who wanted to use good design to help people in impoverished situations have a chance at a better future. This is reflected in our mission to use fashion to free the nations from poverty, disease, slavery, and exploitation.
Through this past year, FTN was well received and quickly developed a following of like-minded people; people like you who believe good design and business can impact this world in a great way. But that’s not the only thing that has come from this past year. We learned something else that is even more important.
One of the FTN’s founders, Sarah Hale, took a trip to Cambodia this summer. While there she met several beautiful young girls who had been recently rescued from sex slavery. Through the care of Transitions Global in Phnom Penh, these young women were healing from the horrible nightmare they had lived through and were learning to dream again. While at Transitions, Sarah met 2 girls who dreamed of working in fashion but didn’t think it was possible for them. How often do we give up on our dreams because no one else is willing to believe in them with us? Sarah came back inspired and we all shared in her excitement.
These girls want to create something beautiful. Something that has value and will make you feel lovely by wearing it. It was after this trip that we realized that fashion with a purpose isn’t just a way to create a sustainable living but it is a dream for two young women in Cambodia.
There will be some changes coming up for Free the Nations to help facilitate this new direction. The first step is selling through our current stock for the Christmas season. All proceeds from the sale will go toward building the girls’ jewelry line.
We hope you will join us on this journey.

Guys are hard to shop for—it’s a fact of life.
However, in our experience, you can never go wrong with a bow tie. A staple item in every man’s wardrobe, the bow tie has garnered quite the fan base in the past year. And leading the pack in bow tie style is FIGS Ties.

The idea for FIGS Ties came about as founder Heather Hasson was searching for a way to combine her interest in neckties and fashion with her desire for fostering global education. Her two passions found a crossroads in building a company that operates on a variation of the “one-for-one” business model.
Along with bow ties, FIGS Ties also carries neckties and scarf ties and for every tie purchased, FIGS gives a uniform to a child in need so that they can attend school.
So, ladies, if you’re searching for that perfect holiday gift for your father, brother, or that special someone, look no further than FIGS Ties. And men, treat yourself to some sophisticated style and help out a child in need while you’re at it.
As FIGS likes to say, these ties are “100% Awesome.”
